Presto Sound Library Open Beta Description:

Presto provides a background Service which allows other applications to play MP3 and Ogg Vorbis files on your Android device at faster or slower speeds and/or faster or slower pitches. It does not provide a direct user interface to play audio files, but provides an API so that other developers can use speed and pitch adjustment in their apps. Developers must modify their app for Presto to be used while playing audio.

Note: The Android Market web page is showing placeholder screenshots from Osplay. Hopefully this is a caching issue that will be automatically resolved quickly.

For developers: See the home page for nearly drop-in code that replaces android.media.MediaPlayer, using Presto when available, or gracefully degrading to use the default Android MediaPlayer when not.

The following apps have participated in the development of Presto and are likely to release a version that can use Presto in the near future:

DoggCatcher
PodTrapper

All requested permissions are used for validating a license.

Known bugs (please e-mail me if you find any new ones or any of these impact you too severely; I have no means to respond to Market comments). When all of these are in a non-open state, Presto will exit open beta and become version 1.0. Most early testers have not encountered these bugs, but they can happen.

All of these are being actively investigated; some only need to be verified that they have already been fixed.
